Herpes Simplex

Herpes can appear in any part of the body, but the most common infection is seen in the mouth or genitals. Caused by the herpes simplex virus, it can cause fever blisters and cold sores around the mouth. There are two types of herpes viruses: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Being a contagious virus, it can be transferred from person to person.

The ways it spread are:

  • Sharing lip balm
  • Sharing same utensils
  • Kissing or any sort of contact

HSV infection can happen regardless of the age group and some of the symptoms to recognize this condition are:

  • Blistering sores in mouth or genitals
  • Itching
  • Pain during urination
  • Flu
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Lack of appetite

HSV can also spread to the eyes, causing herpes keratitis and represent symptoms like eye pain and discharge. At Astoria Skincare, we will first diagnose the existing health condition with a few tests. Our goal will be eliminating the existing sores and limiting the future outbreaks.
